| At kismet, we make every effort to source high quality artisan ingredients. In our journey to create a menu that reflects the wealth of this region, we have been greatly inspired by farmers and food producers, our Vermont seasons, heirloom recipes and food traditions of the world. We believe that our food tastes so good becuase of the intention put into it and the stories connected to it. When we first set out to source our ingredients, many people said it couldn't be done. We have taken these doubts as a challenge, and feel honored and delighted to offer a menu that, at it's core, is intentionally delicious. In many cases, we have been able to purchase our ingredients directly from the source. As the localvore movement gains momentum across the world, more poople are looking closely at our "conventional" food chain (corporate "farms", grain lots and warehouses, imported and irradiated spices and fruits, large-scale distribution, and generic branding). In addition to working with local farmers, we have gone the extra step to source other ingredients (rice, salt, spices, sugar, etc...) from wild harvesters and organic food producers, and believe that the stories of these foods will fulfill your deepest flavor fantasies while nourishing you to your greatest self. |
